First up, we've just finished sending out copies of Neal Barrett, Jr.'s mammoth career retrospective, Other Seasons. Those of you who know Neal's work are in for a treat. Those unfamiliar with it are in for a revelation.
Now, we've moved on to the signed illustrated limited edition of George R. R. Martin's debut novel, Dying of the Light. Thirty-five years after its initial release, the novel drew a starred review from Publishers Weekly:
“Virtuoso mastery of atmosphere justifies this deluxe, illustrated 35th anniversary reprint of Martin's debut, which long predates his star turn with Game of Thrones and its sequels. This is a young writer's book, full of romantic foreboding and foolishness. Nonetheless, Warlorn's grand, gloomy landscape is an evocative backdrop for characters obsessed with love, duty, and death, and their drama may well linger in the reader's memory for another 35 years.”
