Orders snuck up on us a bit for Joe R. Lansdale's new Hap and Leonard novella, Dead Aim. We have orders from our large wholesale clients for hundreds of copies that we won't be able to fill. If you want to pick up a copy before we start shipping in a couple of weeks, we'll try not to take it personally. The signed, limited edition—with a different dust jacket than the trade—will ship at the same time.
Consider youself nudged by this cutting from the Publishers Weekly review:
Tart, smart, and dangerous, Lansdale's favorite roughneck detectives, Hap Collins and Leonard Pine, take on an apparently straightforward assignment—discourage a man from harassing his estranged wife—in this dark and twisty novella, the 10th entry in this highly satisfying series flavored with an East Texas twang (Devil Red, etc.)
If that's not enough new Lansdale for you, don't forget his gonzo original novella, The Ape Man's Brother, currently available only as an ebook. Lansdale fans will be happy to know that we're at work on our fall title of his, a big, 460+ page gathering of uncollected stories, called Bleeding Shadows. We've already approved the rough cover ideas by Vincent Chong for the limited and trade hardcover editions.
