Songs of a Dead Dreamer by Thomas Ligotti.jpg

We’re pleased to announce three new collections, with production well under way on the trio, all due early next year:

A Pleasure to Burn: Fahrenheit 451 Stories (Ray Bradbury) — contains the tales that were stepping stones to the classic novel, including the the ultra-rare novella, “Long After Midnight” which has only appeared in a $100+ limited edition, as well as other rarities, and a few of Bradbury’s more famous tales.

Songs of a Dead Dreamer (Thomas Ligotti) — the first in our series which will be definitive editions of Ligotti’s works. Mr. Ligotti has gone over all of the stories in Songs closely, making this the definitive edition of that seminal work.

Lesser Demons (Norman Partridge) — a brand new collection, including a brand new novella, by the one of the two or three finest practitioners of the short form currently working.

Special Offer: Order A Pleasure to Burn and either edition of Songs of a Dead Dreamer and we’ll toss in a free trade copy of Norman Partridge’s Lesser Demons. To take advantage, you need do nothing beyond ordering the Bradbury and Ligotti titles. We’ll take care of the rest when we process your order. This special may not be combined with any other offers, coupons, or discounts, and expires at the end of the day October 31, 2009.

A Double Shot of Charles de Lint Reviews

Sunday, October 18th, 2009

In addition to the recent, and positive, review in Publishers Weekly, Charles de Lint’s high fantasy novel Eyes Like Leaves has just drawn quite positive notice from both Library Journal and Booklist.

From Library Journal:
“This traditional fantasy…bear’s de Lint’s characteristically lyrical prose and hypnotic storytelling. Filled with Celtic lore and wonderfully drawn characters, this standalone epic should please the author’s many fans and lovers of medieval fantasy.”

From Booklist:
“This is classic high fantasy, written and revised by a master, unpublished when first completed some 30 years ago because de Lint decided to focus on contemporary fantasy stories and let it languish. It is a must for de Lint completists and, actually, for all high-fantasy and folkloristic fiction fans.”

Pat’s Fantasy Hotlist Reviews Peter V. Brett’s THE GREAT BAZAAR

Friday, October 16th, 2009

The Great Bazaar and Other StoriesThe first review of Peter V. Brett’s short collection, The Great Bazaar and Other Stories is in, and it’s a winner. According to Pat’s Fantasy Hotlist, “…based on what you can find between the covers of The Great Bazaar and Other Stories, I’d say it’s the perfect companion book to Brett’s fantasy debut. If you are eagerly awaiting the release of the sequel, The Desert Spear, than this novelette will definitely whet your appetite.”

Peter’s many fans will be pleased to know he’s penning a novella—also set in the world of The Painted Man—for Subterranean: Tales of Dark Fantasy 2.

Neil Gaiman Special Accidentally Extended

Thursday, October 15th, 2009

We’ve been a bit remiss in updating our site, and the special offer for the upcoming limited edition of Smoke and Mirrors, Neil Gaiman’s glorious short story collection. To give everyone a final chance to preorder the book at $75 off the cover price, we’re extending the offer until the end of the day, Tuesday, October 20, 2009. As a reminder, our edition will be fully designed in two colors by Dave McKean, with an original illustration for each of the roughly 30 stories, with 8-10 of them expected to be in full color.

This will be one of the nicest limited editions we’ve ever produced. Those who own our edition of The Graveyard Book can expect an edition with the same production values.

IN BETWEEN by R. A. MacAvoy

Wednesday, October 14th, 2009

In BetweenR. A. MacAvoy’s distinctive fantasy voice has been too long gone for her devoted readers. In Between is a welcome taste, as Publishers Weekly notes: “Ewen’s story is ripe for more in-depth treatment, but there’s still plenty of good stuff in this slim package.”
