Subterranean Press is proud to announce the first of Jim Butcher’s Dresden Files novels, in a deluxe collectible hardcover, meant to give a lifetime of enjoyment.

Our edition of Storm Front will be printed on 80# Finch Opaque, our preferred paper for higher-end limited editions, with a number of full-page interior illustrations, as well as a full-color dust jacket. (We’re still lining up the artist.)

Given the size of the print run, we expect Storm Front to sell out well in advance of publication. The only way to guarantee you’ll receive a copy is by ordering direct from Subterranean Press.

The Hugo ballot is just out, and we’re more than a little pleased to be represented by a number of works that first appeared in SubPress publications or were reprinted in them. Here’s a list:

– The Last Colony by John Scalzi. We’ve done limiteds of the first two books in this series (Old Man’s War, The Ghost Brigades) as well as related publications The Sagan Diary and Questions for a Soldier. Plans are already underway for a limited edition of The Last Colony, plus a previously unpublished outtake that will eventually appear in Subterranean Online.

Novellas

– “Stars Seen Through Stone” by Lucius Shepard. This meaty novella will appear in The Best of Lucius Shepard later this summer.

– All Seated on the Ground by Connie Willis. Our edition of Connie’s latest comic novella is getting in short supply. Order soon if you’d like a copy

Novelettes

– The Merchant and the Alchemist’s Gate by Ted Chiang. One of the most complex and touching time travel tales of the past few years.

– “Dark Integers” and “Glory” by Greg Egan both appear in his newest, just published collection, Dark Integers and Other Stories.

– Bob Eggleton. His cover for Brian Lumley’s The Taint and Other Novellas was one of the works cited in his nomination.

John W. Campbell Award for Best New Writer

– Scott Lynch. We’ve done the signed limited editions of his first two novels (The Lies of Locke Lamora; Red Seas Under Red Skies) with both being sold out. In the future, look for the third novel in his Gentlemen Bastard series, as well as three original novellas.

Our signed limited edition of Naomi Novik’s debut novel, His Majesty’s Dragon, is in stock and shipping. It’s a fine production, with a full color dust jacket by Dominick Harman and multiple color interior illustrations by Anke Eissmann. The book itself is printed in two colors on 80# Finch paper to give it the classy treatment Naomi’s novel so richly deserves.

In keeping to our 50 book schedule this year, we have a lot going on, as you might expect. Here’s a quick production update:

– We’ve just approved the printed but not yet bound pages for On Stranger Tides (Tim Powers);
– His Majesty’s Dragon (Naomi Novik) is due in our offices any day now;
– We’ve finished shipping all individual and retail orders for Altered Carbon (Richard K. Morgan) as well as the lettered edition of Coraline (Neil Gaiman);
– We’ve approved the covers for Rite (Tad Williams) and New Amsterdam (Elizabeth Bear), the first two trade paperbacks from our new imprint, Far Territories;
– Barry Hughart has turned in some of the most personal (and entertaining) flap copy we’ve ever seen for his omnibus, The Chronicles of Master Li and Number Ten Ox.
