Book News — Jim Butcher, Tim Powers, Elizabeth Bear, and Philip Jose Farmer

Our edition of Tim Powers’ classic supernatural pirate novel, On Stranger Tides, will feature the original cover art by James Gurney — with a different design for both the trade and limited editions. To make the limited even more attractive, Mr. Gurney has agreed to sign it!

Jim Butcher, author of the ultra-popular Dresden Files, has turned in a novelette set in that series for us. Check out as Harry Dresden’s big brother offers some “Backup” to get everyone’s favorite PI wizard out of a nasty spot of trouble.

One of last year’s most popular titles was Elizabeth Bear’s New Amsterdam — to be released in April as a trade paperback. We’ve just signed a contract with Ms. Bear for a 30,000 word follow-up to that tale, dealing with the wampyr Sebastian many years later.

Our string of publishing Philip Jose Farmer will continue into 2009, as we’ve just reached agreement to publish an omnibus of three of PJF’s lesser known, but still excellent novels, to be gathered as The Other in the Mirror. If all goes according to plan, each novel will feature a special introduction by an sf/fantasy luminary.
