When a stranger named Acacia does the impossible and follows Joey back to BaseTown, things get complicated. No one knows who she is or where she’s from-or how she knows so much about InterWorld.

Dangerous times lie ahead for Joey and the mission. There’s a traitor in the group of Freedom Fighters, and if Joey has any hope of saving Interworld, the Altiverse, and the mission, he’s going to have to rely on his wits-and, just possibly, on the mysterious Acacia Jones.

An astounding tale of adventure, danger, magic, science, friendship, spaceships, and, oh yeah, the battle to save all the people in all the worlds in all possible dimensions.

	Joey Harker isn’t a hero.

In fact, he’s the kind of guy who gets lost in his own house.

But one day, Joey gets really lost. He walks straight out of his world and into another dimension.

Joey’s walk between worlds makes him prey to armies of magic and science, both determined to harness Joey’s power to travel between the dimensions. The only thing standing in their way is Joey-or, more precisely, an army of Joey’s, all from different dimensions and all determined to save the worlds.

Now Joey must make a choice: return to the life he knows or join the battle to the end.

Now they head north, looking for sanctuary and an alchemist who can cure the poison that is slowly killing Locke.

The trade edition of Robert McCammon's acclaimed new novella, I Travel By Night, has just washed up on our shores. Copies are being bubble bagged, slipped into rigid mailers, and sent on to customers. We've also sent samples of the limited editoin off to have slipcases made, which means those will ship in eight weeks or so.

	About the Book:

I Travel by Night marks Robert McCammon’s triumphant return to the sort of flamboyant, go-for-broke horror fiction that has earned him an international reputation and a legion of devoted fans. The terrors of the Dark Society, the gothic sensibilities of old New Orleans, and the tortured existence of the unforgettable vampire adventurer Trevor Lawson all combine into a heady brew that will thrill McCammon’s loyal readers and earn him new ones as well.

For Lawson, the horrors that stalked the Civil War battlefield at Shiloh were more than just those of war. After being forcibly given the gift of undeath by the mysterious vampire queen LaRouge, Lawson chose to cling to what remained of his humanity and fought his way free of the Dark Society’s clutches. In the decades since, he has roamed late nineteenth century America, doing what good he can as he travels by night, combating evils mundane and supernatural, and always seeking the key to regaining a mortal life.

That key lies with his maker, and now Lawson hopes to find LaRouge at the heart of a Louisiana swamp with the aid of a haunted priest and an unexpected ally. In the tornado-wracked ghost town of Nocturne, Lawson must face down monstrous enemies, the rising sun, and his own nature. Readers will not want to miss this thrilling new dark novella from a master storyteller.

	From Publishers Weekly:
“Southern gothicist and paranormal historian McCammon (Gone South; The Wolf’s Hour) combines the two genres in this fun, fast novella… An explosive confrontation with the Dark Society in a bayou ghost town opens the door to more stories of Lawson and his companions, deftly sketching the wider world’s parameters without shortchanging personal conflicts.”

	From The Agony Column:
“In the 1980’s, McCammon turned a lot of heads with a string of novels that, in many ways, perfectly refined the best elements of American horror fiction. His vampire novel, They Thirst unleashed vampires in Los Angeles; his werewolf novel, The Wolf’s Hour, pitted an allied spy who was a werewolf against the Nazis. To these and other novels, he brought a rich, atmospheric imagination, vivid characters and an expertly paced plot. McCammon’s novels were unabashedly commercial, generally available first as mass-market paperbacks and one hundred percent fun. He took his work seriously enough to make it real, and the resulting books were the very essence of the eighties horror ripping yarn.

“That sensibility is all over his latest book from Subterranean Press, I Travel By Night. In a tight, smartly-written novella, readers get the Trevor Lawson’s back story, his quest, the limits of his abilities and lots of glimpses into the larger world that McCammon is building. Lawson is a vampire for hire, a night-haunting gunslinger who solves the sort of problems that most folks don’t survive—many of which are the result of his decision to try to avert the fate that awaits him. McCammonn does a great job of crafting a character we love who is flawed as hell.”

	From SciFi Bulletin:
“You wouldn’t expect the author of They Thirst to provide a standard take on the vampire myth, and I Travel By Night has its surprises up its sleeve, quite a few of which drive the plot. Lawson himself is a man doing the best with the cards he has been dealt: his quest is driven by personal motives but that doesn’t mean that he won’t do his best for others along the way.”

Welcome to our surprise Jim Butcher limited edition, Furies of Calderon, which is in stock and ready to ship. It features a full-color cover, two interior plates (one of them a gatefold), and is printed on 80# Finch. The book is housed in a custom slipcase, with variegated gold foil stamping on the side and spine. This is one heavy, gorgeous volume.

The books of The Codex Alera are among the limited editions we are most frequently asked to publish, so we decided to produce Furies of Calderon, keeping the print run as low as we possibly could, to roughly half that of Jim’s Dresden Files novels.

The people of Alera are known for their ability to summon and command furies, elemental beings of earth, air, fire, water, wood, and metal—a power that has long protected the empire from the hostile forces outside its borders. All the people except for Tavi, a young man living at the edge of civilization in the remote Valley of Calderon, who is seemingly unable to call upon supernatural aid. Looked on with pity by some and contempt by others, Tavi must depend on his own wits and bravery to combat the threat of invasion by the barbarian Marat horde. Meanwhile, the Empire faces threats from within as well, with southern nobles plotting rebellion against the aging First Lord. After a bitter betrayal, the loyalist windcrafter Amara must flee for her life to Calderon, where further danger awaits…and an alliance with Tavi. But will Tavi’s best efforts be enough against war and rebellion?

Acclaimed worldwide as the creator of the beloved The Dresden Files series, now #1 New York Times bestselling author Jim Butcher turns his talents to fantasy at its most epic in Furies of Calderon. Here, he follows in the footsteps of the genre’s masters to weave a story all his own, with a unique method of magic and dozens of memorable characters. With this first volume of The Codex Alera, Butcher has created a bold new fantasy world.

Limited: 250 signed numbered copies, housed in a custom slipcase: $175
Lettered: 26 signed lettered copies, bound in leather, housed in a custom traycase: $300

Following on the success of her novella, Six-Gun Snow White (link to the ebook), we're pleased to announce another major project by Catherynne M. Valente that's landed on our schedule later this year. The Bread We Eat in Dreams contains 35 exemplary pieces of fictions, poems, and vignettes, including her stunning novella, "Silently and Very Fast." As with our edition of Kelly Link's Stranger Things Happen, Kathleen Jennings has provided a wonderful cover and over a dozen interior illustrations.

	About the Book

Subterranean Press proudly presents a major new collection by one of the brightest stars in the literary firmament. Catherynne M. Valente, the New York Times bestselling author of The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making and other acclaimed novels, now brings readers a treasure trove of stories and poems in The Bread We Eat in Dreams.

In the Locus Award-winning novelette “White Lines on a Green Field,” an old story plays out against a high school backdrop as Coyote is quarterback and king for a season. A girl named Mallow embarks on an adventure of memorable and magical politicks in “The Girl Who Ruled Fairyland—For a Little While.” The award-winning, tour de force novella “Silently and Very Fast” is an ancient epic set in a far-flung future, the intimate autobiography of an evolving A.I. And in the title story, the history of a New England town and that of an outcast demon are irrevocably linked.

The thirty-five pieces collected here explore an extraordinary breadth of styles and genres, as Valente presents readers with something fresh and evocative on every page. From noir to Native American myth, from folklore to the final frontier, each tale showcases Valente’s eloquence and originality.

Robert McCammon's return to horror is almost here. We've just sent his historical vampire novella, I Travel by Night, to the printer, and are getting quotes for the slipcases for the limited edition. In the meantime, the novella just received a killer review that connects it to some of McCammon's classic novels.

	So Says The Agony Column:

In the 1980’s, McCammon turned a lot of heads with a string of novels that, in many ways, perfectly refined the best elements of American horror fiction.

That sensibility is all over his latest book from Subterranean Press, I Travel By Night. McCammonn does a great job of crafting a character we love who is flawed as hell.

	A Hard Case Crime Book.

The Master Returns— With Never-Before-Collected Tales of Murder and Desire

One of the most highly acclaimed novelists in the crime genre, Lawrence Block is also a master of the short story, with award-winning work ranging from the macabre to the slyly comic, from heart-stopping tales of revenge to memorable explorations of lust and greed, all told in Block’s unforgettable style. The sixteen stories (and one stage play!) collected here in Catch and Release feature appearances by some of Block’s most famous characters, including gentleman burglar Bernie Rhodenbarr and alcoholic private detective Matt Scudder, as well as glimpses into the minds of a rogue’s gallery of frightening killers, dangerous sociopaths, crooked cops, and lost souls whose only chance to find themselves may be on the wrong side of a gun.

You’ll meet a compulsive hoarder whose towering piles of trash and treasures hide disturbing secrets…a beautiful young tennis star with a rather too possessive secret admirer…a dealer in stolen art who is unwilling to part with his most prized possession at any price…poker players with agendas that have nothing to do with the cards in their hands…and a catch-and-release fisherman whose preferred catch walks on two legs.

Terror and passion, cruelty and vindication—it’s all here, in a collection that will thrill you, scare you, and remind you why Lawrence Block is still the best there is at what he does.

Trade: Fully cloth bound hardcover edition: $30
